There is plenty to look forward to with the new iPhone 15, but faster charging may not be one of them.

The new-generation iPhone uses USB-C charging, which buoyed hopes that it would charge faster than previous models that relied on Apple’s Lightning charging ports. New rumors, however, suggest that may not be the case.

Mac Rumors and Apple Insider both wrote about a new report from the Japanese blog Mac Otakara that claims that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro will be limited to 27W charging, which is the same as the iPhone 14 Pro models. This may disappoint Apple users, especially since the iPhone has long been behind its competitors in charging speeds.

It’s important to note, however, that these reports are unconfirmed, so there’s still hope for faster charging.

The USB-C port is a major change for the iPhone 15, which only came after regulation from the European Union. The new iPhone 15 line will also feature the Dynamic Island, a perk that was once limited to the iPhone 14 Pro models, across all variants. The new phone officially drops on Friday. If you’re in the market for one, Mashable’s Alex Perry has a handy guide on the different models.
